Rain, Rain, Come Again
Sep. 18, 2012—There it was: the perfect puddle. To jump or not to jump. Also, if you ever need a conversation starter with a Vandy girl, talk about rainboots.
TIMAV: Our campus
Sep. 18, 2012—Vanderbilt’s campus is one of those things you have to see to believe. It’s part park, part urban oasis, part university, and part forest infested with crazy squirrels (I’m not kidding). While living in Dakar was an awesome experience, I much prefer waking up to our beautiful lawns, trees, and random assortment of sculptures. It sure beats sandy streets filled with goats, believe me.
To Study or Not to Study: that is THE question…
Sep. 17, 2012— It was the last weekend of Shakespeare in the Park and I REALLY wanted to go. But, with my big biology exam coming up the next week, and two more exams, two quizzes and a large project, it wasn't actually an option.
Just another fall weekend
Sep. 17, 2012—This weekend, I stuck around campus and just enjoyed the beautiful weather and this great campus. I finally feel like I am settled in and out of summer-mode. On Friday night, I went to Hillel for Shabbat dinner. Most of my close friends here are not Jewish, so when they all decided to go to...
Blair Concert the First
Sep. 17, 2012—I'm not good at estimating, so I'll safely guess between 30 and 8,000 people showed up for Blair's first concert. But actually, Ingram was absolutely packed. Not even when Audra McDonald or the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet came was there an audience such as this. Apparently, people even had to listen to and watch the concert from the lobby telly, it was so full! Success! People finally realizing and taking advantage of the free Blair concerts!
Weekend Adventures
Sep. 16, 2012—After a busy week full of tests, it was great to relax this weekend and have a chance to hang out with my friends. We also got to explore Nashville by checking out Goodwill and a local Vietnamese restaurant.
Nashville Outings
Sep. 16, 2012—One of my personal goals for the semester was to do more things off campus. Nashville is such an awesome city, but sometimes I am too busy with school, work, clubs, and the other 1 million things happening on campus, that I forget to venture outside the “vandy-bubble”. This week was much different. For my...
There’s no place like “home”…
Sep. 13, 2012—The warm weather, beautiful breeze and calm atmosphere obviously promoted a time of self-reflection. My old house Gillette is visible from the front of the Commons center and every time I see it, I hear a contented voice in my head sigh: “home”.
Note to self: slow down
Sep. 13, 2012—Four weeks into the semester. By now, most of us are probably already busy taking our first test or handing in that first essay assignment for class. As professors slowly start picking up the pace of the semester by increasing our workload, a lot of us can't help but let the stress accumulate. Anxiety level? Very high. Things on my to-do list for the weekend? Very full.
Phi Lamb Rush!
Sep. 13, 2012—Last week was one of my favorite weeks of the semester-Phi Lamb rush! My entire sorority came together and planned a whole week of fun activities in order to help us recruit new sisters.
The Best Things About Vandy
Sep. 13, 2012—After my first summer away from Vandy, I couldn't wait to get back by the time August rolled around. I spent the summer doing research in a lab at home, which was an incredible experience, but Western blots just don't compare to Nashvegas. So for my first ever blog, I thought I'd write about all of the wonderful things that I missed and love about Vanderbilt.
