Cooking Class at Whole Foods

Posted by on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in College Life, Food, Nashville.

Our delicious meal!

Today, CityVU offered three private cooking classes taught by the Whole Foods Salud! cooking school. 462 people applied and 30 lucky winners  were selected to attend the class with a guest. I didn’t win, but my friend Kristen did, and she brought me along!

On the Carribbean-themed menu was Jerk Chicken, Green Rice, Chili Cheese Corn Muffins, and the necessary sweet ending, brownies. We made everything from scratch with fresh Whole Foods ingredients. It was all delicious!

We were bused to and from the event, and we even had time to explore and shop in the entire shopping center. It was the perfect Saturday afternoon off campus.

Now though, back to the real world. I have two tests and a paper due before fall break. Wish me luck!

Off-campus events like this one is a great chance for students to get a feel of practicing in real-world situations. Anyway, education isn’t at all limited within the four walls of the classroom. Plus, you get to spend the rest of the day exploring the area!

Hi Jayla, great question! At this time I’m not aware of any — Vanderbilt doesn’t offer a culinary arts major — but that doesn’t mean there aren’t opportunities. Please contact Campus Dining for more information: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/dining/. And I’ll comment again if I can find anything.
