As readers of the Vandy blog, my wife and I have a few questions that you can best answer. How do you like Vanderbilt? Do you feel well prepared? Any struggles or regrets? How bad is the grade deflation that we have read about in college confidential?

I don’t think the bloggers can answer this question, but I was accepted ED and was wondering when I should expect my Road to Vanderbilt and information on course registration packets to arrive in the mail.

Hey! I have been wait listed to Vandy, and was wondering when the deadline is to officially select roommates. Do students accepted off the waitlist usually have to room together because the previously accepted students have already committed to a roommate? Thanks!

Thanks for asking! I’ve been offered a wait-list position, which I immediately seized. While in college, I’d like to combine my business, culinary, and travel interests into a career. Does this sound like a good fit for Vanderbilt? Which majors/classes align best with my interests? Also, I’m very interested in studying abroad. More posts about the abroad program would be great!

My question is for Seth – my daughter is an admitted performance major and I wondered how demanding you have found your AXLE requirements combined with your music studies and need for practice time, especially freshman year.

This might seem like a stupid question but I’m wondering if the mattresses in the freshman dorms are comfortable? Do I need to buy a mattress cover, mattress topper, etc.?

Karen: That’s a great question for our Inside ‘Dores team! I would guess they’re comfortable, but it never hurts to get a mattress topper for extra coziness. They’ll respond soon…

I’d really like to see something about how Vanderbilt is recruiting Chinese students. This is the new frontier in true educational diversity, and I think as many parents in China should know about Vandy as do Harvard and MIT.
