Hi there Thom!
Thanks so much for your post. I’d already seen your post from last year, though :P. I applied for admissions but was placed on the waiting list, and my question is: As an American applicant living abroad, after filling out the International Wait List Reply web form, was I supposed to receive a confirmation email? I’ve been expecting one and it’s led me to worry that I put in my email address incorrectly.
I appreciate any feedback you could give me!
Thanks,
Allan Y

Thom-
I know that you split the waitlist by the colleges in Vanderbilt, but within those separate lists how are people admitted? Are they ranked? Is it a random lottery?
Thanks!

Hey Thom,
By what date should I expect a waitlist confirmation email? Also, I noticed that last year’s waitlist wasn’t finalized until July 15. I figured everything would be sorted out by mid/late May; why does it take so long?
Thanks!

I am an admitted student (Class of 2014), and am most likely going to attend Vanderbilt this fall. However, I am also on a waitlist for another college; I wouldn’t find out about my further status there until sometime in May or June, but I know admitted students for Vanderbilt are required to inform the school about whether or not they intend to enroll by May 1st, as well as submitting their deposit. If I were to submit my deposit and then find out I got in at the other school, I wouldn’t be able to get the deposit back, would I? It’s probably non-refundable? Again, I am most likely going to attend Vanderbilt, as the other school is a definite long-shot, but I am simply curious, since this question involves money. Is there any way I can find out more information about that?

Thom-
I emailed my admissions counselor Wednesday evening but haven’t recieved an email back. But would it be a good idea, or even acceptable to retake the ACTs to report back for the wait list? There is an ACT test administered this weekend (4/10) and it is possible for me to test standby. I believe that my score could be raised due to circumstances that happened on the last testing date, so would that be a good idea? Just trying to do everything to improve my chances. Thank you.
