‘choosing Vanderbilt’
Home Again
Oct. 14, 2013—I know it seems like just yesterday that my parents were in Nashville to visit my sister and me on Parents Weekend. But time flies, and before we knew it, it was fall break and my sister and I were headed to the Miami Beach Sunshine.
‘ Last Parents Weekend
Oct. 2, 2013—My parents came to parents weekend my first year at Vanderbilt, but they have not been to parents weekend since. Honestly, parents weekend is more crowded and busy than most, so my parents try and come when things are calmer (and they can hang out with all of my friends). This year, however, they decided to brave the crowds as it was my sister's first parents weekend.
The First VUT Play of the Season
Sep. 26, 2013—Tonight, I attended opening night of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead performed by Vanderbilt University Theater. I try to go to as many plays as I can but I made a special effort to attend this one for two reasons. First, later in this semester, I will be reading the play in one of my classes. Second, two of the actors in the play are in that same class.
Free Flu Shots!
Sep. 25, 2013—Today was Vanderbilt's annual Flulapalooza, a huge campaign through which all Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff are invited (encouraged, actually) to get a free flu shot. The campaign started three years ago, and last year we broke the world record for most flu shots given in a single-day campaign.
How Do I Know?
Sep. 21, 2013—Answering the real question at the root of my family's inquiries: how do I know that I'm in the right place here at Vandy?
Home for the Holiday
Sep. 17, 2013—This year, for the first time, I was able to go home for Yom Kippur, which is the holiest day of the Jewish year. I do love Vanderbilt Hillel and the Jewish community on campus, but because the holiday was on Saturday and the Commodores were in South Carolina, I decided to take a quick trip to Miami Beach and see my family.
‘m In Love
Sep. 15, 2013—Who said Friday the 13th is automatically a terrible day? Whoever it was, I have proved them wrong and avoided the supposedly inevitable bad luck.
The New Alumni Hall
Sep. 1, 2013—In my time at Vanderbilt, Alumni Hall has never really been a consistent space. It had some offices and at one point, temporarily housed the Writing Studio. Last year, however, it was closed off and completely renovated. This past Friday, with the opening of the workout room, the renovation was officially complete!
Senior Year- A Different Schedule
Aug. 25, 2013—I cannot believe that this is my last fall at Vanderbilt. Between football games, Homecoming week the opening of Alumni Hall, this semester is sure to fly by. Because I am a senior, my schedule is a weird mix of classes that I need to complete my major and AXLE. Thus, although the timing of...
The Beginning of the End
Aug. 20, 2013—Round 4 commences in a few hours. Being a 3-time veteran of first-day preparations, I knew that it was necessary to soak in all the lazy free time I possibly could before the first day of classes. Once that hits, the busy-bee life of a student here on campus starts!
A Chattanooga Send-Off
Aug. 20, 2013—A few days ago, I had to say bye to my Chattanooga home to return for Round 4 of Vandy fun. However, this time around my family and I took a more tourist approach to explore the city before move-in day.
