Live on the Green

Sep. 28, 2012—Nashville isn’t adoringly nicknamed “Music City” for nothing. The city has a plethora of music venues, outdoor festivals, and up-and-coming bands. Whether you’re in town for a day, a weekend, or 4 years of college, you should be getting a taste of the country, folk, rock, punk, or whatever your ears and your heart desire.

Slack[lin]ing in the Sun

Sep. 26, 2012—Every once in a while, my friends and I in WilSkills will get together and set up a slackline outside of Rand Dining Center to hang out and eat lunch while inviting people to learn how to slackline and also to attend a WilSkills lecture or trip.

TIMAV: Our campus

Sep. 18, 2012—Vanderbilt’s campus is one of those things you have to see to believe. It’s part park, part urban oasis, part university, and part forest infested with crazy squirrels (I’m not kidding). While living in Dakar was an awesome experience, I much prefer waking up to our beautiful lawns, trees, and random assortment of sculptures. It sure beats sandy streets filled with goats, believe me.

Note to self: slow down

Sep. 13, 2012—Four weeks into the semester. By now, most of us are probably already busy taking our first test or handing in that first essay assignment for class. As professors slowly start picking up the pace of the semester by increasing our workload, a lot of us can't help but let the stress accumulate. Anxiety level? Very high. Things on my to-do list for the weekend? Very full.

Space is Awesome

Aug. 14, 2012—If you care about space at all, the past week or so has been a magical time (and if you don’t care about space at all, stop reading my blog right now. Seriously). Now, reader, I can hear you objecting to this whole article: “Nathan, your blog is supposed to make me love Vanderbilt!” Well....

A Vacation in the Sunshine State

Jul. 30, 2012—Numerous families make beach trips during the summer. My family is not one of them. We are definitely a family that prefers the mountain scene over the beach. Cold over hot. Foliage over sand. However, with the desire to do something as a family before I head to Nashville and my sister begins her Master’s...

Spring Break in New Orleans

Apr. 10, 2012—It's that time of year again where I share what fabulous Spring Break option I decided on this year, about a solid month after I went. It should come as not much of a shock to you that this break I once again went on a missions trip with the Vanderbilt BCM. This year, the BCM went to New Orleans, a city I had never visited, so I was extra excited to go.
