‘m Listening To
Oct. 10, 2013—Inspired by the Admissions Officers, I'm writing about some great music I've been listening to lately.
What is positive advocacy?
Oct. 10, 2013—With applications rolling in, I’m excited to learn more about the upcoming selection process. So I asked some of my colleagues about the philosophy of positive advocacy, the idea that admissions counselors open each application looking for the reasons to admit students rather than reasons to deny them.
Surprise!
Oct. 9, 2013—This is slightly delayed, but two Fridays ago, I got the biggest surprise of my life: my parents came to visit! Now, for many Vanderbilt students, your parents coming to visit on Family Weekend isn’t really a surprise. But being from California, my parents have never been able to come before. When I found out...
I’m Just a Brochure: The Life of a Vanderbilt Publication
Oct. 7, 2013—If you're a high school student who has started the college search process, you probably have stacks of brochures, pamphlets, and post cards from various schools. Athenian Sing for Family Weekend!
Oct. 7, 2013—When I first came to Vanderbilt, family weekend was in September. Since I had never been away from my mom for more than three weeks, that was perfect! My favorite part of the weekend was the Athenian Sing, when I got to see the great performing arts groups on campus compete to raise money for different charities. After that night, I wanted to be involved in the Athenian Sing however I could. So, last year when I found out I could apply to be in the Athenian Honor Society and thereby help plan the event, I was psyched!
IJM Day!
Oct. 7, 2013—When you find a cause that you really love, you end up bringing into conversations a lot. That's kind of how I feel about human trafficking. It's a huge and heavy need around the world, and I have been SO ecstatic about getting involved with International Justice Mission (IJM) to help make my mark on this injustice.

Oct. 6, 2013—When considering biking around campus, I had a lot of questions: Should I bring my own bike, or rent one? If I bring my own, should I bring a mountain bike or road bike? Where will I put it? How will I maintain it? Will I be able to get around without knocking over pedestrians?...
My Craziest Week Yet
Oct. 6, 2013—Last week was possibly the craziest of my time at Vanderbilt. After months of preparing for the LSAT appendicitis tried to get in my way of taking the test, but there was no way I was letting an organ the size of a finger stop me!
Homecoming Festivities
Oct. 5, 2013—This week, my knowledge of what William and Kate named their baby (George Alexander Louis) came in handy! It was for Trivia Night in Rand, one of the awesome Homecoming events.
Performance Weekend or Parents Weekend?
Oct. 5, 2013—Hello friends! This past weekend was filled with two of my favorite things; performances and my parents! Like my fellow star blogger, Erica Graff, my weekend kicked off on Thursday evening at Vanderbilt University Theatre’s production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. I did not know much about the show before hand, but it was fantastic...
The Anchor
Oct. 3, 2013—Last night, as I was at the Munchie getting ready to grab some food and head out to Blair for some late night practicing, I got a text from my house president, Henry. Apparently, there is a big contest for who makes the best Homecoming banner and all the common houses were “battling” to earn...
ROC and Roll- The Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge
Oct. 2, 2013—Have you ever wondered how well you would do on a TV show like Wipeout? Well, two weekends ago I got a taste of what it would be like to do a game-show inspired obstacle course at the ROC (ridiculous obstacle challenge) Race.
