Admitted Admissions Advertisement

Feb. 22, 2013—Last week, Samantha and I braved a journey filled with questioning glances, outright staring, and much laughter as we traversed across campus accompanied by our fondly inanimate friends, the swivel chairs. How did such a bizarre occurrence come about?

The Commons Experience

Feb. 20, 2013—*Guest blog by new friend and hip-hop enthusiast Tom Majerus When I first arrived at Vanderbilt, I was struck by two things: how everyone seemed nervous and how everyone seemed eager. These seem to be the best two emotions to describe the first two weeks of college. I made friends faster than I ever had in my life, and every day I had new challenges facing me. This was my favorite aspect of living on The Commons, Vanderbilt’s freshmen living community; everyone experiences the same new things together.

College=Power

Feb. 6, 2013—College is a time of empowerment. I think at our ages, between 18-22, we truly believe we make a difference So when we support the Children's Hospital with the annual Dance Marathon, when we go to National Coming Out Week events, or broke the world record last year for most vaccine shots in one place in eight hours for the Flulapalooza. And even if Vandy is still growing in its football program, it doesn't mean we can't fill a stadium because we don't have school spirit.

Tornados in Switzerland? Nope. In Nashville at 3am? Of course.

Feb. 1, 2013—Wednesday morning everyone was buzzing about each student’s experience of Tuesday night, and since it affected me greatly, I figured it would make a great blog post! At about three in the morning, Davidson county’s tornado warning sirens went off...

How to Survive Finals

Nov. 30, 2012—In exactly a week from now, I will be finished with classes and preparing for finals. Finals are stressful, and they require extensive amounts of studying. However, there are a few perks on Vanderbilt’s campus that make finals week not so awful.

Symphonie Fantastique

Nov. 7, 2012—So what better for Blair kids to do on their Friday night than go to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center for a delightful evening of music? We boarded the bus downtown, and when we arrived, we saw around half of our school there. From the pianists to violists to vocalists to horn players, the Blair School of Music had invaded the Nashville Symphony. Yes, that is what we music majors do to kick off our weekends.

The Package Line 2: The Streets

Oct. 29, 2012—This January, I wrote a sad blog about the realities of the package line after breaks. Despite their best efforts at moving students through, the package window was besieged by horrible lines due to the number of students shipping books and home items to Vandy. Apparently Inside ‘Dores is really the pulse of the student...

TIMAV: Meal Plan

Oct. 28, 2012—In continuing in my theme of talking about things I missed while studying abroad, it would be a mistake to forget about the food at Vandy!  I know this is a popular topic amongst the Inside Dores bloggers, but food plays a huge role in college life.  Be sure to pick a college with tasty...
