VUCC Banquet
Apr. 16, 2012—Last night one of the organizations I am a part of, Vanderbilt University Concert Choir, had our annual spring banquet. For our banquet we drive to Joelton, TN, which is about 35 minutes away from campus, to Shadowbrook retreat center. Shadowbrook is a beautiful place with a small man-made lake and a dining area that...
Jazzercise
Apr. 16, 2012—This past Friday some of my Phi Lamb sisters along with some of our friends from Alpha Chi Omega went on an adventure to do Jazzercise over in Franklin! It was a great way to unwind after a rough academic week. We left campus around 6 pm on Friday night and made the 20 minute...
The Liar: A VUT Production
Apr. 13, 2012—Last night in order to celebrate the end of a rough academic week, I along with a few of my friends went to see “The Liar” which is the Vanderbilt University Theater’s latest production. VUT shows are always amazing, and this one was no different! “The Liar” tells the story of Daronte, a man in...
The Life of an Intramural Soccer Player
Apr. 7, 2012—Before coming to college, I was in the best shape of my life. For me, anyways. I played travel soccer for 13 years and 4 years of varsity high school before officially retiring upon my arrival at Vanderbilt. Life was great…until the “Freshman 15” rumors started to harass a very fitness-conscious brain. I had been...
Undergraduate Research!
Apr. 5, 2012—As a pre-med student I have been hearing (since pretty much day one) that getting involved with research is really helpful in building up your resume for medical school. Coming to Vanderbilt, I knew there would be so many opportunities for getting involved with research–the trick was finding the right one for me!
Phi Lamb Formal!
Apr. 3, 2012—This past weekend my sorority, Sigma Phi Lambda, (which is the Christian sorority on campus) had our formal! It was held in the fellowship hall of a local church near campus, and overall it was a night of great fun with my sisters! Since Phi Lamb is smaller than many of the other sororities on...

Tap-dancing Fool
Mar. 24, 2012—With a dance recital coming up in the near future, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the wonderful Vanderbilt Dance Program and tap-dancing in general! Not nerdy.
Basketball Band and the NCAA Women’s Tournament
Mar. 24, 2012—This past Sunday I was invited to cheer on our Lady ‘Dores in the Women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament as a member of the Spirit of Gold Basketball Pep Band.
ASB “Hangin’ Around” in Kyle, South Dakota and Area
Mar. 23, 2012—*Co-authored by Samantha Orland* For Alternative Spring Break this year, we went to Kyle, South Dakota to live on the Pine Ridge reservation of the Lakota Sioux and to assist in a local elementary school. The 26.5 hour car ride definitely led to ASBonding, and the service made us feel like we could make a difference, even for just a week, in the lives of the children on the reservation.
IMPACT 2012
Mar. 21, 2012—Each year, Vanderbilt Programming Board hosts several distinguished speakers at its IMPACT Symposium to give lectures on consecutive nights about a variety of political topics. In the past, speakers have included Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Strom Thurmond, and Robert F. Kennedy (just to give a sample of the many prestigious guests). This year, I...
ASB: “A Day in the Life” in San Juan, Texas
Mar. 20, 2012—This is a little blurb about one of my best spring break experiences in my life. I participated in an organization called Alternate Spring Break (ASB) where students travel to different sites domestically and abroad to engage in a week of service. This is definitely a longer blog, but it doesn't even cover HALF the things I wanted to say about this great organization. If you are interested in learning about a unique way to spend your spring break during your time at Vanderbilt (because you should come to Vandy!), then read on!
