Commodore for a Week

Apr. 17, 2013—*Guest blog by Tina Layton (A.K.A. "Tdog"), best friend from back home and Pho-lover Through the constant stories that Samantha tells me about her Vandy life, I always pictured Vandy as Narnia in my mind. It seemed like a fantasy world of great friends, great academics, and great extracurriculars in a great city. I never thought that I’d get the chance to actually visit her and see what Nashville is really like since Plano, our hometown, isn’t exactly a neighboring city to Nashville. Luckily, I was able to book a plane ticket to Nashville for Spring Break this year, and I got to enter the wardrobe into this fantasyland.

Scenic Nashville

Apr. 15, 2013—This weekend, the weather in Nashville was beautiful! I took advantage and did some sight-seeing and hanging out in the great outdoors. Here are some of the highlights: I went for an 8-mile run through downtown Nashville and around LP field. I stopped in Printer’s Alley and on the pedestrian bridge. I also ran down...

Registration Woes

Apr. 15, 2013—I can't really complain about registration since I'm a rising senior, and we get the best registration days. I can, however, complain about the fact that I am a rising senior, and last week I registered for classes for the second-to-last time. And I panicked about classes for the second-to-last time. I feel old.

How to Get Involved

Apr. 13, 2013—This weekend I’ve been realizing just how easy it is to get involved on campus and how much fun it is to interact with people who are not from your stereotypical social circle. This was brought to my attention when I started working as the house manager for the Original Cast's show Until Dawn: A Musical About War...

Time is a Fickle Thing

Apr. 12, 2013—It really is. Waiting until you slip into a comfortable pace of undulating routine, it creeps up, unbeknownst to you, and assaults you with all its might, leaving you dazed and confused, so much so that you can’t wonder what has happened, and all you can do is lament the fact that as soon as...

To drive or not to drive

Apr. 9, 2013—For my social studies methods class, our final project is to create a geodiary about our community and it got me thinking about how my physical community broadened significantly after I got my car this year. So, I realized that this could be an important blog post for prospective Vanderbilt students: do you bring a car to Vandy or not? Here is my pros/cons list...

What Will You Be?

Apr. 9, 2013—If you haven’t figured it out, I already love the future class of 2017. So of course, I couldn’t resist following in the footsteps of fellow bloggers Nathan and Ryan. Reflecting on my Vanderbilt experience and trying to sum it up in a few words is always difficult, but here’s what stands out: You will...
