Decisioning Down to the Wire – Mr. Commodore Meet Mr. Greshko
Apr. 30, 2010—I started my last post with the understatement “waiting is hard,” but for many students nationwide the greater understatement is more like “choosing is hard.” We do not envy those of you who are now down to the wire with your decisions. Keep in mind that our deadline is a post-marked deadline, and that tomorrow...
How to Survive Finals Week 101
Apr. 29, 2010—Being in the middle of my 6th finals week here at Vanderbilt, I thought I would impart some of the wisdom I have learned over the past three years about how to survive this stressful week. Each of my finals weeks have been very different; some have been full of tests, while others full of...
Thinking Positive
Apr. 29, 2010—Finals week always sounds dreadful. As classes come to an end, work builds up. Essays, projects, presentations, exams – the workload is never openly welcomed. However, there can be a few good things about finals week…
Scrambling before the year ends…
Apr. 28, 2010—The year winds down for the Melodores. NOT. After a crazy successful spring concert last week, we look ahead…to the very near future. NBC’s “Sing Off” auditions are imminently approaching and we are getting ready for them. We are in the process of trying to coordinate everybody from the group to come back to Nashville...
Rains of Spring
Apr. 28, 2010—Rites of Spring was not ideal by anybody’s means…weather-wise. Apparently it has rained for the past two years leading up to this year’s Rites… Between cancellations of bands (yes Passion Pit cancelled on us because of sickness) and delays because of monsoon-like rain, it seemed like things were going to be a disaster. The show...
1 More Year…
Apr. 26, 2010—I would like to expand on Seth’s point in his most recent post, asking the question, “Are we done already???” And would like to emphasize how much it is freaking me out too! Seth… just you wait… its going to start going by faster and faster and FASTER and before you know it, you will...
Waitlist Update Email Going Out Today
Apr. 23, 2010—Waiting is hard. We know that after starting your college search a year ago (at least) and going through the application process, the last thing you really want to do is wait some more. So for those of you who have agreed to do so by accepting a spot on our waitlist, thank you. The good news is that barring an unforseen circumstance we do anticipate that we will be able to admit students from our waitlist at some point.
Are we done already???
Apr. 23, 2010—I cannot believe the year is almost over. Undergrads have only three days of class left. Where has the time gone? I feel like I just got here! I feel like my parents just dropped me off a couple weekends ago. It really makes me value this place even more. We don’t have that long...
Post-Concert update on the Melodores
Apr. 23, 2010—This was the big week for the Melodores. We had rehearsal every day leading up to our concert (which was yesterday). Hours and hours of practice finally paid off during our concert, entitled “The Meloship of the Ring.” Many asked if our concert had anything to do with Lord of the Rings and it really...
It’s really all a blur
Apr. 23, 2010—It’s really all a blur! Freshman to Junior year. Today I was instated as a citizen of the United States of America. I’m proud to be a U.S. citizen. The court proceedings were very serious and the judge’s speech made me a bit emotional. The judge said, “Never be ashamed of where you are from…The...
You CAN jam out and study at the same time!
Apr. 22, 2010—Throughout the past 3 years at Vanderbilt I have explored a variety of study spaces, desk set ups, buildings, and study partners trying to find the perfect local. Well I think I have narrowed it down to my top 2 choices! The first being Buttrick, a classroom building located near the middle of campus that...
