In addition to the Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship, I am waiting to hear back about a different merit scholarship that is specifically for certain counties in my region of Kentucky. How and when might I be finding out whether or not I have received it?

Peyton: I’m not certain, you may want to ask the Office of Student Financial Aid and Undergraduate Scholarships.

Thanks for the updates. Really exciting to wonder which group my application is in. If I am in the muddy middle, I sure hope my counselor has a great elevator speech on my behalf! Less than 30 days to go before I find out if that big envelope is going to show up on my doorstep!!

    Kylie,
Great posts. It has been fun and nerve wracking to read them! My question-I understand there are merit scholarships other than Ingram and Cornelius Vanderbilt. If a student doesn’t receiving a the Cornelius Vanderbilt award, is it possible to still receive some merit award? If so, would they be told this next week? Thanks.

Lynn: Our scholarship website offers details on these additional scholarships. The notification dates for these additional scholarships vary, but all students will know if they received an award by April 1, 2011.

Thank you for the wonderful updates. I am appreciative of how diligently the admissions office processes applications.

Can you give us a sense of the ration of clear-admit:clear-deny:muddy-middle within your files?

  • Kylie

Ron: I assume you’re asking for a percent breakdown, such as 50% of our files are in the muddy middle. I honestly don’t have a specific idea of the numbers, though. I can tell you that the muddy middle is by far the larger of the three groups.

Will all the Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship applicants find out by email Friday, Monday, Tuesday, or later? Do we have an exact day yet? Previously it was posted that only the unsuccessful applicants would find out be email.

Just wondering if ED applications were handled the same way? i.e. accept, deny or muddy middle

  • Kylie

    March 4th, 2011

Judy: Essentially the same. There is no waitlist outcome for ED students, but there are still three similar groups.

Were the additional essays we wrote for the merit scholarships put in our OUA file for consideration, regardless of whether we received the scholarship? LOVE THE BLOG – thank you for all the updates and continually putting me at ease no matter what happens!
